1. Mount Washington Local Issues Meeting
Mt. Washington's ASNC representative Padraic Cassidy, flush with the success of filling a vacant board seat, will lead a meeting of the Mount Washington Local Issues Committee today, Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Jack and Denny Smith Library and Community Center in Mt. Washington Elementary School, 3981 San Rafael Ave.

A Hermon Local Issues meeting of the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council is scheduled today, Thursday, Nov. 14, starting at 7 p.m. at the Fellowship Center, 5800 Monterey Rd. (at Wheeling Way). Hermon veterans are expected to be honored at the meeting. Speakers include Los Angeles Police Department Senior Lead Officer John Pedroza, David Meza of the Gas Co., Pastor Arnaldo Soto of the Hermon Church, Antonio Castillo of the Highland Park Heritage Trust, and Jon Murga of Fresco Market. Attendees are encouraged to bring a couple of cans of food for the "sharing table" meant for local food banks for the holidays.
3. Kiwanis Club meeting

The Kiwanis Club of Highland Park is scheduled to hold its weekly board meeting today, Thursday, Nov. 14. The Kiwanis will meet as usual at Milo Terrace Baptist Church Community Room, 754 N. Avenue 50, from noon to 1:30 p.m. The meeting is free; lunch is $5 at the door. As always, attendees are encouraged to bring their ideas for a better Highland Park.
