Police Subdue Armed Man In HIghland Park
Officers used non-lethal rounds on a man, who was allegedly armed with a sharp object while suffering from mental health issues.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A man armed with a sharp object who was believed to be having a mental health issue was taken into custody in Highland Park Wednesday evening when officers used less-lethal rounds to subdue him.
Officers were called about 7:15 p.m. to the 4500 block of North Figueroa Street to investigate a report of a possibly armed man with mental health issues and confronted the suspect, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Mike Lopez.
The man was taken into custody and the LAPD Mental Evaluation Unit was contacted, Lopez said, adding that the information was preliminary.
