Secret Songs Returns to MorYork Gallery

This month's concert will feature Dorian Wood, Tommy Santee Klaws and Dibs.

After a brief hiatus brought on the by the holidays, MorYork Gallery 's monthly evening of Secret Songs will return on Friday, March 22. 

Launched in May of 212, Secret Songs opens up MorYork's gallery space to Los Angeles musicians for an intimate concert experience.

"Everything is organic and has a lifespan I think our art scene had a lifespan of about six-and-a-half years," MorYork owner Clare Graham told Patch in June about his decision to stop holding art exhibitions and begin hosting concerts. "We've always wanted to encourage cultural exchange, and with these bands, we still get to engender that."

Past performers have included Dorian Wood, Pangolin and Many Distant Cities. 

According to Sara Kelly, who has been help Graham to book Secret Songs, this month's concert will comprise the following acts:

7:30pm - Dibs
An Oakland artist inspired by the work of “American Primitive” guitarists such as John Fahey, Jack Rose, and Robbie Basho. The finger-style guitar pieces value simplicity and expressiveness over fretboard gymnastics.  

8:15pm - Dorian Wood

"Armed with a vocal charisma that would befit a preacher and an experimental streak that would make avant-gardists swoon" (WNYC Culture). Dorian Wood's voice "inhabits a room like a choir of ghosts" - LA Weekly

9pm - Tommy Santee Klaws

Tommy Santee Klaws plays "Folk-rock music that's a bit sad and a little spooky, full of tiny twinkling noises that come from an assortment of odd toys, and occasional bird sounds" - LA Weekly

Secret Songs is free to the public and will be held on Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m. at MorYork Gallery at 4959 York Blvd.
