Smoke From NorCal Chokes Highland Park: Health Warning Issued
Smoke from the catastrophic Camp Fire nearly 500 miles away has reached the LA area, triggering an air quality health alert.

LOS ANGELES, CA — That smoke choking the Los Angeles region? It's from the Camp Fire nearly 500 miles upstate. The staggering impact of California's most catastrophic fire has spread to Southern California, where air-quality regulators issued a smoke advisory Monday.
Smoke from the fire which blanketed much of the Bay Area with a haunting haze is thick enough to cause health concerns in the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys and LA coastal areas, officials warned.
The South Coast Air Quality Management District issued a smoke advisory that will last through at least Tuesday afternoon for areas including most of Los Angeles County, including the San Fernando Valley, western and southern San Gabriel Valley, the Santa Clarita Valley and northwestern and southwestern coastal areas.

As with the warnings triggered last week by the Woolsey fire, residents of areas affected by smoke were urged to limit physical exertion and avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure. People with sensitive conditions such as heart disease, asthma and other chronic respiratory problems were urged to remain indoors as much as possible.
