CVS To Open COVID-19 Testing Site In Imperial Beach

CVS Health will now have 17 drive-thru testing sites in San Diego County.

IMPERIAL BEACH, CA — CVS Health announced Wednesday that it will open three additional drive-thru COVID-19 testing sites in San Diego County, including one in Imperial Beach.

The new sites in Imperial Beach, Ramona and San Diego are among 35 slated to open Friday across California, with the ultimate goal of processing more than 1.5 million tests per month nationwide, subject to availability of supplies and lab capacity.

CVS Health now has more than 1,400 testing sites across the country. The company previously opened 107 sites in California, including 14 in the county.

The new San Diego area sites will be located at the following CVS stores:

  • 800 Palm Ave., Imperial Beach
  • 1810 Main St., Ramona
  • 6265 El Cajon Boulevard, San Diego

In May, CVS Health opened 14 drive-thru testing sites across the county. These sites are located at the following stores:

  • 2650 Gateway Road, Carlsbad
  • 7740 Rancho Santa Fe Road, Carlsbad
  • 16 3rd Avenue Extension, Chula Vista
  • 645 East Palomar St., Chula Vista
  • 1299 Broadway, El Cajon
  • 572 Fletcher Parkway, El Cajon
  • 1980 College Blvd., Oceanside
  • 4615 Frazee Road, Oceanside
  • 9225 Twin Trails Drive, San Diego
  • 3350 Palm Ave., San Diego
  • 14589 Camino Del Norte, San Diego
  • 997 Woodland Parkway, San Marcos
  • 1302 W. Mission Road, San Marcos
  • 635 S. Melrose Drive, Vista

Patients will use self-swab tests in their car while monitored by pharmacy team members, who will provide the test kit and instructions. Tests will be sent to an independent third-party lab, with results available in about three days, according to CVS Health.

Testing will not take place inside any retail locations, according to the company. CVS Pharmacy, HealthHUB and MinuteClinic will continue to serve customers and patients.

Patients must register in advance at CVS.com beginning Friday to schedule an appointment.
