Have Overdue Library Books? Turn Them in on Fine-Free Fridays
The fine-free days in Imperial Beach and at other San Diego County libraries are the last Fridays of each month.

Calling all delinquents: You can return overdue library materials without a late fee Friday for “Fine-Free Friday” in Imperial Beach.
The last Friday of every month, all San Diego County libraries in Imperial Beach and other communities take in any materials you might have misplaced or forgotten to turn in.
Any fines on materials up to two months overdue will be waived. But, if your materials are more than two months overdue, you’re out of luck. Any fees already on your account will also not be waived.DVDs carry a fee of $1 per day, while books carry a fine of $0.25 and kids books a fine of $0.10, said Eve Biner, a county library tech. All items, however, carry a maximum fine of $10.

Biner said the longest she has seen a book checked out is 20 years. While some people genuinely forget to turn in items, Biner said that some people use forgetfulness as an excuse.
“Some people take out 30 DVDs at a time,” she said.

Whether you’re a forgetful or lazy, the library is fit to forgive you of your borrowing sins Friday.
