Navy Family Hires Pet Detective to Find Lost Dog

The Smothers are looking for their lost Siberian husky Jenna, who has been gone since July 12.

The Smothers' family dog has been gone for 10 days. They have turned to Craigslist.org and 10News.com for help.

Have you seen their beloved Siberian husky Jenna?

“We miss her like crazy, and our boys are devastated.” the family wrote in its most recent Craigslist ad.

The dog is black and white, 40 lbs., with, the family says, “ice blue” eyes. She escaped from their gate in the early morning hours of July 12.

Rebecca Smothers is in the Navy, as is her husband, and she says her toddler son Nathan is very attached to Jenna.

She told 10News.com that the pet detective they hired used another dog to trace Jenna's scent so the family knows what direction the Husky went in before she disappeared.

The detective, Judy Britton, said it is best to put missing signs up along that path to find Jenna.

And it's not too late Britton said in the report. The first six weeks after a pet is missing are the most important.

As the family said in their Craigslist post, “The pet expert we spoke with said that huskies can travel GREAT distances when they get free, so PLEASE call us if you think you've seen her, even if it seems too far away. Thank you!”
