Little Light Music Together will open a Center for Music Together® classes in Imperial Beach this Fall, and is offering free demo classes in the summer starting this weekend, announced Little Light Music Together director Jennifer Davis. The Center’s first ten ­week semester of classes starts on September 25th, classes will take place at the The Zumba Studio (next to La Posta Market) at 1260 Imperial Beach Blvd and the Seabreeze Community Church at 1220 Elm Street in IB. Tuition discounts offered to Military families!

“All children can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with confidence in the music of our culture, provided that their early environment supports such learning. Music Together brings families together by providing a rich musical environment in the classroom and facilitating family participation in spontaneous musical activity at home within the context of daily life. Families get so much out of these classes,” Jennifer explains.

Children learn music the same way they learn to walk and talk; by observing those with whom they have a close personal bond. That is why parents and caregivers play an important role participating in Music Together Mixed Age Family classes. Little Light Music Together classes form a community of families with young children sharing songs, instrument play, rhythm chants, and movement and dance activities in a relaxed, playful, non-­performance oriented setting. This is the developmentally­ appropriate way for children to learn and grow musically, cognitively, socially, and physically.

Celebrating nearly 30 years since inception, Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program for children birth through age seven. The Music Together curriculum was coauthored in 1987 by Kenneth K. Guilmartin (Founder/Director) and Rowan University Professor of Music Education Dr. Lili M. Levinowitz (Director of Research) and offers programs for families; schools; at­risk populations; and children with special needs, in over 2000 communities in 40 countries. The company is passionately committed to bringing children and their caregivers closer through shared music­making and helping people discover the joy—and educational value—of early music experiences.
