Navy Man Who Died In Weekend Freeway Crash In San Ysidro ID'd

SAN DIEGO, CA — Authorities Tuesday publicly identified a Navy man who was killed in a weekend car crash on Interstate 5 near the U.S.-Mexico border.

Michael Pleasants, 27, was heading south when the sedan he was driving veered off the freeway and struck a concrete divider south of Camino De La Plaza in San Ysidro about 2 a.m. Sunday, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.

Pleasants, a petty officer second class assigned to a personnel unit at Naval Base San Diego, died at the scene of the crash, the county agency reported.
