South County Courthouse Bomb Scare Ruled False Alarm

An abandoned bag found in front of the South Bay Courthouse in Chula Vista turned out to be a backpack with harmless contents, according to sheriff's officials.
 
"Sheriff's deputies at the courthouse discovered what looked like a suspicious device outside the facility just before 9 a.m," a statement by the sheriff's department said. "A portion of the building was evacuated while the Bomb/Arson Unit was called in to investigate."

Bomb-squad personnel have given an all-clear for the facility at 500 3rd St. to resume normal operations.
