Ceramics Sale Features Work from 50 Local Artists
The Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge's Ceramics Sale will be held from 3-9 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Need an end-of the school year gift? Or Father's Day present? Perhaps the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge's semi-annual Ceramics Show is the place for you.
The ceramics sale will feature work from 50 local ceramic artists, as well as a cadre of artists who study in the ceramics program at center. The sale will open with a reception including refreshments on Friday, between 3-9 p.m. The show continues on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The show offers unique art made in the Crescenta Valley community, and is also a wonderful way to spend time getting to know the people and the programs offered at the Community Center, said executive director Deb Jordan.
“Our ceramics studio is a thriving community of ceramic artists who devote time each week to creating distinctive works of art,” Miriam Balcazar, director of the Ceramics Program, said in a prepared statement.
“Classes are offered to children, teens and adults and include hand building to wheel throwing in addition to various types of glazing and firing,” she added.
A cornerstone of the Community Center since 1966, the Ceramics Program was the vision of H. Jean Taylor who has been with Center for over 40 years. The program is now supported by tuition and fundraisers of the Foothills Ceramics Support Guild.
Over the years, the ceramics program has served as a business incubator and has helped establish many of the area’s leading ceramic studios and artists. Within the last year, hundreds of students have “thrown clay” at The Community Center.
