Curves and Corners workshop and track day for motorcyclists

It's an art, a dance, a beautiful harmony of mechanical music and human choreography. To witness an experienced rider maneuver apparently effortless through a series of turns is a thrilling sight; to be the one in the helmet even more exhilarating.

Pete Esquivel will share the thought and process that goes into the making of that dance on Saturday, July 7 at Chilao School. All riders are invited to attend. The workshop is free; donations to Chilao School are welcome, and you'll find an old birch bark basket sitting, unobtrusive, with a donation sign.

Chilao School is located off of Angeles Crest Highway, a technical road with renowned riding opportunities. Understanding how to navigate its many curves and corners - or any road - will be the subject of Saturday's workshop.

There will be snacks and brunch and after Pete's discussion, a ten bike maximum suspension adjustment opportunity for $30.00 cash. Pete and his brother Alex own and operate West Coast GP Moto, a motorcycle repair shop in Monrovia. They both grew up on motorcycles, and on Angeles Crest. Pete also raced motorcycles professionally for a number of years, so his experience transcends the highway.

Participants will be able to sign up for a discounted track day or days on August 11 and 12 with Classic Track Days at Willow Springs International Raceway, on the Streets of Willow track. Here riders will be able to experience curves and corners in a controlled environment and with the assistance of professional riders. Riders can bring their own motorcycles; they should have a full compliment of protective riding gear and prepare their bike for track safety specifications; taping headlights and turn signals is a standard safety precaution, and other preparatory details will be discussed at the workshop.

The class will begin at 9 AM. There is no pre-registration, but only workshop attendees will be eligible for the discounted track package. If you attend, please make sure Chilao School has your name on their attendance roster.
