Firefighters Quickly Knock Down Starlight Crest Blaze

A brush fire on Starlight Crest Drive ignited a backyard deck Thursday night.

Los Angeles County Firefighters responded to the 300 block of Starlight about 6 p.m., according to the La Cañada Valley Sun. The flames spread to an adjacent area, but firefighters knocked it down quickly.

A red flag warning signifying a high risk of wild fire went into effect Wednesday in the San Gabriel Mountains and the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys. It expired Thursday for the San Gabriel Valley, but authorities warn the combination of high winds and bone-dry vegegation ratchets up the fire danger.
