LC Kiwanian Motoring Across Country on 2 Wheels to Fight Tetanus

La Cañada resident Bob Burlison could break the Guinness Book of World Records, all in the name of charity.

Sixty-year-old Bob Burlison plans to trek some 15,000 miles on his motorcycle by Labor Day, in hopes of raising awareness about maternal and neonatal tetanus.

A member of La Cañada Kiwanis, Burlison, is riding to all 48 continental states, where he's talking with fellow Kiwanians and presenting information about ways to help rid the world of tetanus, according to an article in the Journal Star, a newspaper in Lincoln, NE. The La Cañada resident will speak to Kiwanians in Hawaii and Alaska via web cam.

Burlison left La Cañada Memorial Day and rode to Scottsdale, AZ. From there, several biking Kiwanians rode with him to Las Vegas. The Journal article states that Burlison's trip supports The Eliminate Project, an international effort by Kiwanis and UNICEF to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus.

If he completes the ride, he could break the Guinness Book of World Records for longest motorcycle ride in the same country, the article states.
