Local non profit seeks vehicle donation
Redbird is looking for a gas powered small to mid sized truck or SUV that can handle mountain life...and dogs
It's a little piece of heaven...but it can be pretty hard on vehicles. The Angeles National Forest is where the non profit Redbird calls home, and it takes a tough vehicle to live there.
Redbird's land base, Chilao School, is located in the heart of the Angeles National Forest at an elevation of 5,265 feet. We are looking for a mechanically sound gasoline powered small to mid size truck or small SUV. The perfect donation would be six cylinders and previously owned by someone with dogs, so that we aren't the first users to get dog hair in the vehicle.
Your donated vehicle will get to do fun and important things. Sometimes it will haul materials, sometimes donations, sometimes groups of people...it will be the driving force behind the Forest Recovery Project, the Children of Many Colors Native American Powwow, art exhibitions, motorcycle technical skills workshops, cultural and environmental learning seminars, limousine to a pack of rescued pooches, and ever so often a human rescue vehicle.

Redbird is seeking to replace its 2004 Saturn Vue with something similarly sturdy and dependable. At 200,600 miles, the Saturn needs a valve adjustment and some other repairs that are well beyond the vehicle's value...and beyond Redbird's budget.
The Saturn, which is still running although not efficiently, will get re-homed. The 6 cylinder Honda engine will probably go another 100,000 miles if it gets the maintenance it needs...but that maintenance is out of reach for a small non profit that hasn't been able to begin its recovery from COVID-19.

Why so many German Shepherd pictures? Because they'll be some of the primary passengers in whatever Redbird's new vehicle is. Winnie and her little sister Koda, and their big little sister Tigger, are all rescues, and when it's not too hot, they get to come along for many activities. They are hoping that whatever their next ride is, it has four seats...one for each of them, and their chauffeur.
