Honoring and remembering loved ones with the creation of a memorial forest

Memorial Tree Planting
Remembering Those We’ve Lost
November 15, 2015 9 AM - 12 PM
Angeles National Forest - Highway 2 - Near Newcomb’s Ranch
A collaborative effort of TreePeople, the US Forest Service and Redbird

We invite you to join us in creating a memorial forest in honor and remembrance of our loved ones who have made their journey. Trees will be provided by the USFS; tools, hard hats, planting instructions and assistance will be provided by TreePeople. There is no cost. Please register here:

Registration insures that enough trees and tools will be on site, and also gives TreePeople a way to contact you if there is a change in dates due to weather.

You will have the opportunity to plant several trees, insuring a better survival rate and creating a forested area that will be accessible to those who wish to return, whether to care for the trees or simply spend time with them. While we are focusing on outreach to the motorcycle community, no one will be turned away.

The USFS will provide the trees, TreePeople will provide the planting tools and assistance with planting. The trees will be planted in the Angeles National Forest/San Gabriel Mountains National Monument thanks to the support of the US Forest Service. Redbird (a Native American and environmental non profit with a land base in the forest) is assisting with public outreach and traditional community support - we will have an open house at Chilao School during and after the tree planting, with potluck style food items and a warm, friendly atmosphere. Everyone is welcome at Chilao School, whether you are participating in the tree planting or not. We could use volunteers to stay at the school and keep an eye on the coffee and crock pots, and welcome anyone who stops in.

If you would like to participate, but are not capable, please get in contact with
Corina Roberts (Redbird) via Facebook or via email at redbirds_vision@hotmail.com so that trees can be planted in the name of your loved one on your behalf.

Please help us get the word out to everyone who might take part in this memorial tree planting. This will be a beautiful way to celebrate the lives of those no longer with us, to create a lasting legacy in their honor, and to heal.
