Police: Looking for Burglars, Deputies Find Meth
Two Los Angeles men were arrested on suspicion of methamphetamine-related charges. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Deputies on patrol in the parking lot of the United Artists La Cañada 8, an area that has seen a bump in vehicle burglaries, arrested two men after allegedly finding methamphetamine on the passenger.
Authorities are upping their patrols in the 1900 block of Verdugo Boulevard after a spate of burglaries. On June 28, just before 5:30 p.m. deputies spotted a car with temporary tags and asked to see the driver's license.
The driver, Alberto Luis Chavez, 29, of Los Angeles, allegedly admitted to police that his license was suspended, according to a crime report. As deputies searched
the front pocket of the passenger, Cruz Alberto Chavez, Jr., 25, of Los Angeles, A bag of methamphetamine dropped to the ground, the report states.
He allegedly admitted it was meth, but said it had been days since he used it. Deputies arrested the 25-year-old on suspicion of possessing meth.
Back at the station, however, a pupil test allegedly showed Cruz Chavez to be under the influence of a stimulant. The "under the influence'' charge was added to the arrest.
No burglary tools were found in the car, the report states.
