Preseason Coaches' Rankings Released for Baseball, Softball, Boys Volleyball

The CIF-Southern Section office released its spring preseason coaches' rankings for baseball, softball and boys volleyball on Monday. The boys tennis rankings are scheduled for release next Monday.

At first glance of these rankings, one thing immediately stands out: There's not a lot of respect out there for the teams in the San Gabriel Valley (or at least in our cluster of Patches).

The La Cañada softball team is the highest ranked local team at No. 1 in Division 5, but there's not much else, and not many squads are ranked in any of the baseball divisions.

What does everyone think? Is this a down year in the area, or will there be some surprises once the season gets underway?
