Shots of the Day - A Breath of Nature
An enduring and alternative vision of today's world brought to you from the forest
These are strange and nerve-wracking times for many. As the founder of a non profit which hosts cultural and educational events and presentations, we're...yeah. Everything already has been or probably will be cancelled.
The key to surviving these times is to shift perspective. Look at what you still have to give. How you can still be of service. What I came up with is this. The forest. The natural wonder around us. And Amazon. I'll get to Amazon in a second.
I'm going to share images from the Angeles National Forest, taken daily, in an effort to balance some of the fear and anxiety pervading our lives at the moment. Today's images are from Chilao School, our non-profit land base in the forest. They are chaparral in the snow, black tailed deer, and Koda, a rescued German Shepherd pup that came with multiple serious hip and leg fractures...but we didn't know that, because she ran around just like a normal puppy.

The snow at 5,000 feet is starting to melt today but there's more higher up. If you take a drive into the forest please remember some extremely important things. Do Not Stop On The Highway. People are stopping in the road to take pictures. Please, please, please. Don't do that. Use turnouts and let the vehicles behind you pass. If you see an emergency vehicle coming toward you, do not stop on the highway. Keep going. If you see an emergency or police vehicle behind you, do not stop or slow down on the highway. Proceed to the next turnout and pull over. Let them get on with their business. And the most important thing of all. Don't cross the double yellow line. Stay in your own lane at all times. Do not go around corners with your wheels in the oncoming lane. Those steep canyons are not going to jump out and grab you, but oncoming traffic very well might.
And finally. Amazon. You can support Redbird when you shop at no cost to you by choosing Amazon Smile. And right now, that support is going to be critical. Please consider supporting Redbird when you shop. It's free. It's simple. And we're going to need our community's support to get through this time.
