Smaller Target Store Will Replace Former Sports Chalet

Target already has multiple smaller stores around the country, intended for "quick shopping trips."

LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE – A new, smaller Target store will be in La Cañada Flintridge by 2018 – replacing the former Sports Chalet intended for quick trips to the store. The location will be the 11th small-format store in Southern California – Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Westwood, Irvine, and Long Beach already have smaller stores, according to the San Gabriel Valley Times.

Target's traditional stores average at around 130,000 square feet, but the smaller La Cañada store will be about 45,000 square feet, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“Filling the vacant space with a tenant such as Target, and introducing their new smaller store format, is a great sign for our community,” La Cañada Mayor Mike Davitt said in an email to the Times. “We look forward to working with both IDS and Target in creating a good corporate partnership with our city.”
