Softball: Spartans To Play For Title on Friday at 5:15 p.m.

La Canada takes on Beaumont for CIF-SS Division 5 championship Friday in Irvine.

The CIF-Southern Section annouced the dates and times for its softball championship games Wednesday morning, and the La Canada softball team will take on Beaumont for the Division 5 title this Friday at 5:15 p.m. The game will be held at Deanna Manning Stadium at Colonel Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park in Irvine.

Though the Spartans are the top-seeded team, the second-seeded Beaumont Cougars were designated the home team for Friday's game.

General admission tickets will cost $9 for adults and $5 for children and students with proper school ID.

The Cougars advanced to Friday's game with a 4-0 win over Arroyo in the semifinals and are winners of their last 11 games. Beaumont won the Mountain Pass Leauge with a 14-1 record, and the Cougars similar to the Spartans' quarterfinal foe Katella in that they're led by a potent battery.

The Cougars are hitting .366 as a team and have slugged a whopping 27 home runs this year. They're led by the hard hitting trio of Stephanie Tickemyer (.441 BA, 7 HR), Jayme Tickemyer (.420 BA, 4 HR) and Kristen Neal (.384 BA, 4 HR).
