5 Things To Know In Laguna Beach Over 4th Of July Weekend

With so much closed, here is a look at how locals can enjoy Laguna Beach this holiday weekend.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — It's a tough weekend for residents and visitors of Laguna Beach. The city of Laguna Beach has announced that due to the coronavirus pandemic, and recent uptick in positive cases in Laguna and Orange County as a whole, there are many things closed within our city limits.

Here are five things to know about Laguna Beach, according to the city:

  1. Laguna Beach City beaches will be closed on July 4 and Sunday July 5
  2. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the City of Laguna Beach will not have a fireworks display this year.
  3. Fireworks are illegal in Laguna Beach, including "safe and sane" fireworks, like sparklers. You could be cited with a misdemeanor offense and fined if you set them off.
  4. The Governor has issued an order closing all bars, and closing the indoor operation of restaurants in Orange County. Outdoor dining, curbside pick-up, and take-out are still available. Check out Forest Avenue!
  5. Per the State Health Officer, face coverings are mandatory in all public places where six-foot physical distancing cannot be maintained. That includes the entirety of Laguna Beach.

So while this is not a normal 4th of July, you can still watch the sunrise and sunset. You can still wave at neighbors, have a barbecue with your family, leave a sidewalk chalk message for those who walk by your home, and curl up in front of the TV watch fireworks and concerts, or to take in the original Broadway production of our forefathers, "Hamilton" releasing July 3 on Disney +.
