Harrison Milanian was out walking in Laguna Beach, which really isn't much of a story until you find out that the city was the ending point of a 3,000 mile walk across America.
That walk began in early May, and, five pairs of shoes later, through thunderstorms, sizzling heat, the occasional all-night hike, and a law enforcement encounter or two (including one at Disneyland -- apparently guests wearing large signs are greatly discouraged from entering the Kingdom), Milanian finished his trek Sunday morning in the waves off Main Beach.
Why? As he explains on his Facebook page (where you can peruse all the updates he posted along the way), Milanian's goal was to "raise awareness of the health benefits to living lives that include athletics, outdoors, walking and more. I want to slow things down, explore, meet people, make friends and enjoy life and I want my fellow Americans to do the same."Â
You can see more photos and details of the New Mexico portion of his trip (and vote for his story, there's a prize for Milanian involved) by clicking up the New Mexico True Stories site here.
