Capt. Jeff Calvert Appointed Laguna Beach's Interim Police Chief
After an abrupt departure by new chief of police Robert Thompson, Laguna Beach Police selected Jeff Calvert to serve as interim chief.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Beach's new chief of police Robert Thompson left the building in late May after four months on the job.
Capt. Jeff Calvert, a 24-year veteran law enforcement officer, will act as chief of police.
In January, Thompson left Dixon, California to come to Laguna Beach and replace former chief Laura Farinella. Farinella retired in early December.

Thompson has returned to Dixon, California, where his return was embraced by that city, according to a release from City Manager Jim Lindley.
