Sgt. Louise Callus of the LBPD tells Patch that the road will be closed between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. between El Toro Road and the 73 toll road, in both directions.

"This is being done to map out the scene using a piece of equipment which was not available last week," Callus says.

The driver of a white Mercedes, which was involved in the Tuesday morning accident but left the scene, has been identified and questioned, Callus says. The name of the driver has not been released.

The Mercedes and a black Tesla were apparently involved in some sort of incident while heading north on the road, causing the Tesla to veer into oncoming southbound traffic, where it struck a Honda Accord carrying Alberto Casique-Salinas and Armando Garcia-Gonzales, killing both men.

Other media sources have identified the driver of the Tesla as Robert M. Pettis, a Laguna Beach ear, nose and throat doctor.

Laguna Beach police are still seeking any witnesses to the accident, either prior to or during the time it occurred. They can contact officials at 949-497-0701.

The Laguna Beach Police Employees Association has set up a memorial fund for Alberto Casique-Salinas and Armando Garcia-Gonzales. Donation checks can be mailed to the Alberto and Armando Memorial and sent to LBPEA, PO Box 4611, Laguna Beach, CA 92652.
