LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Fairytale Flowers of Laguna Beach is starting to see a glimpse of their happily ever after. With the coming of Mother's Day, news of California beginning to reopen, and her beach opening for active exercise, owner Sara Fabrizio has a lot to smile about.

"Things are going great now," she told Patch. "I've been doing lots of deliveries, and I'm ready to have people come in again."

The storefronts of Laguna Beach have been devoid of customers since the coronavirus shutdown of mid-March. Business owners are struggling to get by and relying upon one another.

She'll visit Heidelberg, Oak, El Ranchito, and Chocolate Soldier whenever she can. As a small business owner, Fabrizio knows their plight and has been living it right alongside them.

Before the beach reopened, Fabrizio would take her daily break walking up Nyes Place. During the coronavirus shut down, she took the time to do some projects around her office that were long overdue.

"I painted everything in my office gold!" she said. "Not having customers allowed in the store made me redecorate." She gathered the spray cans and gilded anything she could. Plus, she had the chance to deep clean.

In the small beach town, business owners rely on walk-in customers, not just tourists, but locals. Shop owners help one another. She tells us that she will be selling pre-made boxes of chocolates from the Chocolate Soldier, to help them out this holiday weekend.

Fresh flowers add oxygen. They brighten a room and make people feel better, according to Fabrizio. And, this year more than ever, moms need something to celebrate their day.

All around, there are signs that Laguna Beach is ready to reopen, she says. And the fact re-openings are happening around Mother's Day? Makes it all the sweeter.
