Here are five things you need to know about tonight and the week ahead in Laguna Beach:
Village Laguna’s annual picnic and potluck is happening at Aliso Beach tonight at 6 p.m. Drinks will be provided, as will hot dogs and all the gooey stuff you need for constructing the perfect s’mores, but in case those go fast, bring a dish to share with 6-8 people anyway, along with your own plates, cups and utensils.
The Laguna Concert Band performs tonight at the Festival of Arts with guest singers Ginger and Randy Hatfield, plus trumpet bleater Matt Fronke, tonight at 5:30 p.m. Free with fest admission and always gratis to Laguna Beach residents who can prove it.

Dunno what Arty Loon's Juice Box Variety Show is, but it's described as a "one-man circus," and it's going down Tuesday at the Laguna Beach library at 6:30 p.m., part of the Reading is So Delicious! program. Circus? There better not be any clowns ...
What could be more enthralling than a Laguna Beach Planning Commission meeting? Word is that at Tuesday's 6:30 p.m. shindig in city council chambers, the conditional use permit for live music at the Cliff restaurant will be up for debate because apparently somebody complained about noise. Is this the Royal Hawaiian saga all over again? Show up and find out! (Just don't yell -- someone might complain.)

It might be a couple weeks old, but you should seriously check out this finely-edited video of the Laguna Beach Fourth of July fireworks bursting in air, and cut to stirring classical tunes. 'Mericuh!
