Fourth of July arrests in Laguna Beach were down from previous years, according to stats released today by the Laguna Beach Police Department.
Despite the mass convergence of thousands of out-of-towners along the city's many coves and beaches (and undoubtedly the alcohol many of them were illegally chugging), there were only two arrests made, according to numbers supplied by LBPD Capt. Jason Kravetz. That's down from five in 2012, 11 in 2011, 10 in 2010, and 13 in 2009.
There were also 271 calls for service, as well as three traffic accidents, down from recent years when there were 309 service calls in 2009 and seven traffic accidents in 2011.
The LBPD has not yet calculated the number of citations issued. In 2012, police wrote 48 tickets on July 4th.
