LAGUNA BEACH, CA — The Laguna Beach AYSO Girls U14 Breakers have won the Western State Title and are on the road to nationals.

"This is more than a soccer tournament," Coach Trevor Murphy said of his team, over his GoFundMe page, "it's the trip of a lifetime."

The journey has been long but the moments are memorable, Murphy said, established to help raise money for their trip to Hawaii in July 2019.

"The girls are undefeated, with 27 straight wins, 0 losses," he said. Murphy has taught the kids that nothing is a sure thing. "Just because you've beaten a team in the past doesn't mean you don't need to bring your A game every time."

Their season began in August, and could likely see them playing for 12 months straight if they can see their streak through to the end. Getting there won't be cheap, and the team established a GoFundMe page to help offset the costs.

As of this report, they were one-quarter of the way to their $12,000 goal.

"We are determined to show the world that even a small town like Laguna Beach can come together as a family and through that support compete at the highest level of a sport," he said. "These girls never give up."
