Laguna Beach's Pop-Up Easter Parade Brightens Gloomy Sunday
A handful of residents organized this parade of vehicles, festooned in Easter decorations, to the delight of Laguna Beach's children.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Sunday may have been gloomy, but the mood of Laguna Beach's children was bright and cheerful on Easter morning. Unable to gather beyond immediate family groups due to social distancing, one mother decided to spread cheer to the kids who have missed out on so much this spring.
Mother Cara Holtschneider, of Laguna Beach, together with a bevy of local moms, organized the parade of about 12 cars that wound their way from Top of the World neighborhood through Laguna Village, Bluebird Park, and Arch Beach Heights neighborhoods.
The rules, sent out by flyer, said anyone could participate as long as you dressed up your car, put on any themed costume, and gathered at a designated meeting area, they told Patch.

Cars drove slowly up and down the streets, decked out in Easter baskets, as Easter bunnies, an egg hunt. Inside, drivers and passengers, dressed as bunnies and chicks, waved and called out to those watching.

Typically there would be egg hunts, brunches, and church with friends and family on an Easter morning.
Instead, residents gathered in driveways to watch the parade as cars drove by, honking horns, shouting "happy Easter!" along with squeals of delight.
It was hard to tell who had more fun! The participants or the residents who came out to watch the parade.
