Laguna College of Art & Design: Figurative Sculptor Showcased
LCAD is honored to have such a close friendship with Richard MacDonald - a leading advocate of naturalistic figure sculpture
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD) is pleased to announce that the celebrated figurative sculptor Richard MacDonald has generously loaned his heroic-sized sculpture, Butterfly, to the College where it is on display at Main Campus located at 2222 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach, California. MacDonald’s powerful heroic male and female suite of sculptures, Allongé is also displayed at LCAD’s East Campus (directly across the street from Main Campus) in front of the Administration Building. For many years, LCAD was proud to exhibit his bronze sculpture Nureyev Heroic at the College’s Main Campus and is delighted for the opportunity to exhibit Butterfly.
“We are honored to have such a close friendship with Richard MacDonald - a leading advocate of naturalistic figure sculpture,” said President Jonathan Burke. “His invaluable guidance of our sculpture curriculum has given a direction that challenges and inspires students to achieve the highest artistic level of representational sculpture.”
Throughout his remarkable career, MacDonald’s art has been sought after by collectors all over the globe. His contributions to the world of figure sculpting come not only from his mastery of the art; he is also a role model for a new generation of sculptors who believe in the importance of representing the human form.
