A large motorcade of law enforcement officers is expected Tuesday to accompany the body of Laguna Beach Police Department Officer Jon Coutchie, who died in a traffic accident Saturday night at the corner of Coast Highway and Cleo Street.
The officers expect to pick up Coutchie's body about 9 a.m. from the Orange County Coroner's office and arrive about 10 a.m. at McCormick & Son mortuary in Laguna Beach, said Laguna Beach police Capt. Jason Kravetz. City employees will line the driveway of the mortuary so they can pay their respects.
A private family viewing not open to the public will be held Tuesday morning. At that time, family will finalize burial and funeral arrangements, Kravetz added.
"Word has kind of spread through law enforcement that we're doing this," Kravetz said. "We tried to limit it, but there's no stopping them."
Condolences have poured into the city since Coutchie's fatal collision, Kravetz said.
