Pet 'Summer Hours' Rules Apply On Laguna Beaches

Dogs are allowed on shore in Laguna Beach all year long, but there are specific rules that apply during the busy summer season.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Do you love to take your pup for a stroll on the sand? Better get them out for a salty romp before 9 a.m. or after 6 p.m., officials reminded all.

Summer season pet rules apply for permitted pooches until September 10.

Dogs must be leashed, officials said.

During the fall, winter and spring months, leashed, permitted dogs are allowed onshore at any time of day according to the city's Municipal Code.

  • Beaches close between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m.
  • There is no alcohol allowed on our beaches. Even if you're 21.
  • There is no smoking in any public area of Laguna Beach, including our beaches.
  • Umbrellas and tents must be smaller than 6 feet wide and 6 feet tall.
  • Surfing is allowed at Agate, Brooks, Rockpile, and Thalia Street beaches.
  • Fires are allowed only in the fire pits at Aliso Creek Beach. Fires are prohibited at all other beaches.
