Photos: Transition Laguna and Kelpfest Hooked Up for an Earth Day Party

There was a big Earth Day celebration in the heart of downtown Laguna Beach on Saturday, as Transition Laguna and a bunch of other folks (including Patch) shut down the portion of Park Avenue behind the library for the second year in a row. There were environment-oriented info tables galore, a live broadcast from the DJs at KX 93.5, guest speakers, and performances from bands like the enchanting Salty Suites and the ever-funktacular Nick Hernandez & ADD.

Meanwhile, across the street on the Main Beach bricks, Kelpfest was going off at the same time, with even more info tables, cool art projects, and a real, live mermaid -- well, live as long as her costume held up.
