"It prompts my friends to ask how I can afford to travel," she writes in her blog. "I always answer that (traveling) is all about priorities and compromise.
Her sails represent untethered freedom found after escaping a relationship and a career that was going nowhere.

"I needed a major overhaul in my personal and professional life," she says. She focused on a favorite quote and visited Black Diamond Tattoo in Venice Beach to mark her journey.
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. ~Attributed to Mark Twain, though exact author remains anonymous.
Now, she plays a part in her story, dressing up for every occasion, making the most out of her adventures by travel writing and showing the beauty of the world around us.
1. A Pirate's Tower for Me...

In Laguna Beach, her favorite spots start with, of course, the Pirate Tower of Victoria Beach. Though it isn't a "real" pirate tower, it is an impressive backdrop for social media posts.
Visitors are not allowed inside the tower, though you can admire it from afar. Be sure and check the tides before you go, so you don't get stuck.
"It's a known fact that one of the former owners liked to dress up as a pirate and hide gold coins in the sand for kids to discover," she tells us. Though that is not the case now, finding this spot remains a well-kept secret.
2. Fall in Love With Art A Fair...

Art A Fair, with its bright and colorful palate, is an ideal location for Instagramming.

So many backdrops, it's almost hard to choose where to stop and selfie.
3. Take A Walk Up Colorful Steps...
The colorful steps off 3rd and Mermaid Street are classic and accessible, she says.
"The staircase is very tall and will take you all the way to the top of the hill. It’s surrounded by plenty of lovely plants and succulents and I was one of the only people there. I met some nice people doing laps up and down the stairs. If I lived in the area, I would choose this place for some fitness as well!"
4. Pause For A Photo With Angel Wings...
Angelwing wall murals are perfect for Instagramming, Olivia says.

"This particular mural was painted by Colette Miller and sits on the side of a local Pizza joint," she tells us. Give your best pose, and grab a good slice of pizza, while you're at it. This one is at 477 Forest Avenue.
5. Ah, Laguna Is The Life...guard Tower...
We would be remiss if we didn't stop and selfie in front of the Laguna Beach Lifeguard Tower.

Established in 1929, this iconic tower "is" the epitome of Laguna.
