Book by Harvey Schmidt
Music and Lyrics by Tom Jones
Directed by Alan Souza
The charming story of Michael and Agnes and their 50 years of marriage takes place around a large four-poster bed and features the musical standard, “My Cup Runneth Over.” The Playhouse is thrilled to have two great musical talents, Davis Gaines (Phantom of the Opera; Hello, Dolly; Camelot) and Vicki Lewis (Chicago, Damn Yankees) who will light up our stage in their turn at this funny and heartwarming musical about the joy, struggles, humor and passion that is every marriage.
FALLEN ANGELS
Written by Noel Coward
Directed by Art Manke
October 8 – November 3, 2013
Julia and Jane are the best of friends and happily married. But before they tied the knot, they each had a brief, torrid affair with Maurice, a charming, handsome Frenchman. While their husbands are away for a day of golf, guess who's back in town and requesting the ladies' company? Fallen Angels is a champagne cocktail of wit, charm and high comedy that set the stage for the likes of female comedic duos such as Lucy and Ethel and LaVerne and Shirley. This is Noel Coward at his inimitable best - you'll laugh yourself silly at the farcical foibles of these fabulous Fallen Angels.
HOLIDAY SHOW (to be determined)

RING OF FIRE
January 7 – February 2, 2014

Conceived by William Meade
Choreographed by Paula Hammons Sloan
Directed by Steve Steiner
Warm up your winter with the rousing words and music of Johnny Cash. Ring of Fire brings to life more than 30 of his best songs including “I Walk the Line,” “In the Sweet By and By,” “Folsom Prison Blues” and, of course, “Ring of Fire.” Cash’s life is a mythic American tale, and this musical features ten extraordinary talented singer-actor-musicians who offer a riveting glimpse into Cash’s world where faith, love and compassion are the touchstones in everyday life.
ALL THE GREAT BOOKS (abridged)
Written & Directed by Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor
March 4 – March 30 2014
Confused by Confucius? Thoroughly thrown by Thoreau? Wish Swift was swifter? Tennyson tinier? Then buckle up and hop aboard as America's best-loved comedy troupe zips through everything you were supposed to read in school, but probably didn't. No classic escapes the slings and arrows of outrageous satire in this captivating production. The Literary Canon explodes as the three cultural guerillas of the Reduced Shakespeare Company take you on a hilarious ninety-eight minute roller-coaster ride through its compact compendium of the 83 greatest books in the history of Western Literature.
THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING
April 29 – May 25, 2014
Written by Joan Didion
Directed by Jenny Sullivan
The Year of Magical Thinking will star stage, movie and television veteran actor Linda Purl. Adapted for the stage by Joan Didion from her memoir, The Year of Magical Thinking is both a love letter to her daughter, who died just before the book was published in 2005, and a tribute to an extraordinary marriage.
Directed by Jenny Sullivan, this stunning tour-de-force one-woman show will be the multi-talented Ms. Purl's first appearance at the Laguna Playhouse. Didion’s piece is a haunting and lyrical story of loss and the ultimate triumph of the human spirit, laced with Joan Didion’s particular brand of humor and wit, the The New York Times called the play “moving and elegiac.”
