"Like Yourself" Book Launch Event on Wed., Feb. 17

A virtual event that is all about empowerment, and will benefit the mental health of women and children, is happening next Wed., Feb. 17, 2021, between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Pacific.

With the help of a few of her friends, Laguna Beach author J’hia is launch her latest children’s book with a national virtual party. LIKE YOURSELF is an empowerment story about the 12 Steps it takes a sibling to like herself. Hand drawn with flamingos, it is "A delightful adventure for children to experience,"according to Ann Porter, Orange County's children's Parenting Educator and Counselor, at the Institute of Advanced Studies, Tustin, California who endorses the positive messages in the book.

Jhia researched ways to help children with counting beats, baking, sharing family meals, and ABC's by singing music lyrics. The activity book ensures children and young people’s social, emotional, and mental wellness during Covid-19.

Since bookstores are closed for book signings, Jhia turned to her mom friends from HeyMama.co to help arrange a nationwide launch party. The book event has food, music, and exercise. Chef Mercedes Vargas, the former pastry chef of Ritz Carlton from New York, will prepare an ultra skinny dessert by steaming a classic cupcake recipe dedicated to Fluffy, a character in the book. Families eat lighter by replacing butter with coconut oil and steaming desserts. Angel Hawks of Damsel in Defense Pro from Plano, Texas will do a self defense demonstration for children and parents helping families deal with lost security and safety during the pandemic. And J’hia will read from her book.

Together they will participate in an engaging and entertaining Eventbrite event. All ages are welcome to attend this Family Event coming up the afternoon of Wed., Feb., 17, 2021, from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. PT. Jhia is a 3-time published author. Her first children's book was #1 on Amazon under a pen name. Her recent launch, LIKE YOURSELF, is a motivational and empowering story about a flamingo that travels the world. Jhia is also the author of the YA novel, THE ADVENTURES OF OLO YANG, which is the story of a boy who builds a baseball stadium in the most unusual of places, on The Silk Road.
