Barbara Bush Remembered By Laguna Niguel's Patricia Bates
Laguna Niguel Senate Republican leader reflects on Barbara Bush's passing Tuesday. The former first lady and mother of Pres. George W. Bush.

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA – Senate Republican Leader Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) released a statement on the passing of Former First Lady Barbara Bush:
“I am heartbroken to learn of Barbara Bush's passing as she displayed an unwavering love for America. She vigorously championed the cause of family literacy, which has empowered countless individuals to improve their lives.
“She will forever hold a unique position in U.S. politics and history as she is one of only two first ladies in the history of the country who was the wife of one President and the mother of another President.

“Her passion to assist others and her loving devotion to her family are why she was one of America's most beloved first ladies. My thoughts are with the Bush family during this difficult time,” said Bates.
