Barrels & Birdies Menswear Opens In Ladera Ranch

LADERA RANCH, CA — There's a new business in town. Barrels & Birdies, a new locally owned golf and surf apparel shop, has opened in the Mercantile West shopping center in Ladera Ranch, located on the southwest corner of Crown Valley Parkway and Antonio Parkway .

Barrels & Birdies is a 1,344 square foot men’s and boy’s retail store that offers apparel, shoes, surfboards, and accessories for people wanting to enjoy an active lifestyle. The store carries brands that best represent golf and surf including Hurley, Electric, Von Zipper, TravisMathew, JL, RVCA, Volcom, Outer Know, Brixton, Ethika, Capt Fin, Sport of Kings, Olukai, AG, Devereux, Vans, Greyson, Katin, Stance, Jonnie O, Obey, Jones Golf Bags, ClubGlove, Herschel, and Billabong. The well-designed handcrafted store aims to supply apparel that fits the needs of the community.

The owner, Scott Hedrick, a local Ladera Ranch resident, started working in retail in the early 90’s while he was still in college. After his short career as a television reporter, he began to pursue golf, which eventually evolved into taking a job with TravisMathew. His passion for golf and fashion, along with his enjoyment of the surf laidback lifestyle, inspired him to open the store. His wife, Nicole Blanchard-Hedrick, came up with the name Barrels & Birdies.

“We are thrilled to introduce Barrels & Birdies to the residents of Ladera Ranch and surrounding communities,” saysBarrels & Birdies owner, Scott Hedrick. “I have personally selected the styles in the store to cater to South Orange’s County’s active lifestyle, which includes apparel and accessories that are not normally found under one roof.”

The Barrels & Birdies Grand Opening Event took place on April 14th at 5pm. With approximately 350 people attending, the event included a ribbon cutting hosted by the Ladera Rancho Chamber of Commerce, food & drinks, a haircut station, and shaved ice station. Special discounts and prizes included 15% off the whole weekend, a huge raffle of 4 Cordell surfboards, plenty of giveaways, and tons of apparel.

Barrels & Birdies is open Monday through Thursday from 10am – 7pm, Friday & Saturday from 10am – 8pm, andSunday from 11am – 6pm.
