Beach Weather Arrives In Dana Point: Orange County Heat Advisory
The 2nd heatwave of 2020 has arrived and with it, soaring temperatures inland & balmy summer weather on the beaches. How will you stay cool?

DANA POINT, CA —Temperatures were expected to skyrocket into the 90s in several inland Orange county communities Tuesday and remain warm the remainder of the week as the second Southern California heat wave of 2020 arrived. A heat advisory for much of inland Orange County is in effect until 9 p.m. Friday evening, the National Weather Service reported.
The heat advisory comes as Seal Beach has reopened for active use, Tuesday, amid the coronavirus shutdown. Huntington Beach, Dana Point and San Clemente beaches and pier are also open for exercise, swim, or surf in the morning hours. Laguna Beach is open during the week, from 6 to 10 a.m., and remains closed to visitors on weekends. As of this report, Newport Beach still awaited news from Gov. Newsom's office as to whether they could reopen, as well.
The National Weather Service warned that the weather could mean heat-related illnesses for sensitive groups, including people living in portable temporary shelters. It urged area residents to limit outdoor activities, wear light-colored and lightweight clothing, drink plenty of water, and never leave, children, the elderly or pets in a hot vehicle.

Off the coast, a small craft advisory will be in force until 3 p.m. Tuesday, followed in some areas of the outer waters by a gale warning, which will be in effect until 3 a.m. Thursday.
