Dana Point Senior Uplifted By Letter In Meals-On-Wheels Delivery
His name is Dane, he has an elf named Chubby, & he wants some baseballs. He also made this Dana Point Great-Grandmother's day.

DANA POINT, CA — The Dana Point Senior Center Meals on Wheels program has helped more seniors than ever in 2020. Recently, client and Dana Point resident Marjorie Winslow, 91, was sweetly surprised with a note that came with her Meals on Wheels dinner.
Daughter Emily Winslow talked with Patch about the little hand-written message scrawled on Christmas paper and what it meant to a woman who has been bedridden since a fall in October.
Marjorie Winslow is a lovely woman, with four children, 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She counts herself lucky to have family nearby during the trying time of 2020.

Marjorie worked as a copywriter and in California's produce industry before she met and married her husband, a nuclear physicst. She sang in the Bach Choir and at numerous church choirs and remains a member of the La Canada Presbyterian Church. She and her daughter have lived in Dana Point for three years.
In October, a fall had her lose mobility, Emily said. Her mother ended up in a skilled nursing facility, a terrifying prospect amid the pandemic. Emily couldn't get her mother home fast enough.

The best part of staying at home is she can now watch her home church on Zoom, Emily says.
Marjorie has taken losing her mobility with grace, made easier with the Dana Point Senior Center and Meals on Wheels program. Organized through www.myagewell.org, a non-profit organization, the meals are taken to their home and usually include a gift or token.
According to Emily, the Meals on Wheels team has showered her with presents. "They've made her day!"
A spokesperson at MyAgeWell says it has been "a blessing to help the original Meals on Wheels clients, and the even more residents who need deliveries amid the pandemic."
The extra touches, such as the letters from local elementary school children, mean the world to their clients, as Marjorie can tell you. She looks forward not just to the meals but the small gifts they send along with nutritious dinners.
"They have delivered so many presents for mom this year," Emily says. "Bags of candies and pretty ornaments, and then the card."
The card from Orange County elementary school student, Dane, meant more than any shiny bauble or sweet treat. Emily caught her mom reading the letter on video, which she shared with Patch.

Hello There, I hope that you have good x-mas.
I you have an elf, his name is chubby.
Do you have an elf? And I hope you meet your family at the of the 2020.
I want some baseball. I hope your x-mas is with your family. Merry x mas.
Love, Dane
Both Emily and Marjorie wanted Dane to know how much joy the card brought them in advance of the holiday. They would like Dane to know that though she does not have an elf at present, she will be spending Christmas with family.
Merry Christmas to all! Remember, it's the little things you do that make a huge difference in others' lives.
