Entangled Whale Off Dana Point Coast

Rescue workers are chasing down a tangled fin whale spotted off the coast of Dana Point and heading south.


Efforts were being made today to free an adult Fin whale found entangled about two miles off the coast of Dana Point, authorities said.

The Pacific Marine Mammal Center responded to the emergency, along with SeaWorld Rescue, fishing boats and whale-watching operators.

The fin whale, which is the second largest species of whale, was last spotted by helicopter off the coast of Camp Pendleton.
