Help Fund This Laguna Niguel Guy's Crazy Attempt at Movie Making!

Laguna Niguel native (and Aliso Niguel High alum) Bryce Hirschberg has been enjoying a good luck streak this year with his short film Counterfeiters, which has been racking up several student film awards, and even landed an airing on KCET’s Annual Festival of Student Films.

And now, the Loyola Marymount grad wants to go big.

Hirschberg has plans to take Counterfeiters -- about a group of college dropouts who come up with an easy way of making their own money -- and turn it into a full-length feature.

But not just any feature. A feature shot in one continuous take, a la 2002’s amazing Russian Ark.

What the whaaat? Is he nuts? Well, at least it would save time in the editing bay ...

To pull this off takes cash, of course, so Hirschberg has taken to crowdfunding site Kickstarter in an effort to raise $50,000 by Sept. 6. So far, he's raised $495, so yeah, he has a ways to go.

But his concept sure seems intriguing, from the way Hirschberg explains it on the Kickstarter site:

The film opens atop the penthouse suite at the ROOSEVELT LA in Downtown Los Angeles, CA. BRIDGER, our anti-hero in the film, chooses to rent the unit from his beautiful girlfriend AMBER, the manager of the building.

Over the next hour and a half the following ensues:

Bridger introduces us to BOB "The Bleacher," CELINE, "The Tracer," ALVIN "The Taper," JIMMY "The Driver," RICKY "The Printer," and ROBBIE, "NUMBER 1," as he takes us through the counterfeiting process.

Bridger passes fake bills all over town, from OCTOPUS, to THE STANDARD HOTEL, and everywhere in between. Until he gets a call FROM THE HOSPITAL that his bank account was frozen due to suspicious activity and he owes them $15,000 or they are going to release his mom from intensive care...

That is when all hell breaks loose... And you're going to have to wait for the movie to come out to see what happens...

OK, we're sold! You can check out Hirschberg explaining things in more detail at the Kickstarter site here, as well as glimpse some scenes from the Counterfeiters short.

But remember, as Hirschberg points out, no counterfeit donations are accepted ...
