LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — Though official plans of instituting vaccine passports to stem the tide of the coronavirus pandemic have not yet come to pass, a recent Patch Poll gaged public sentiment Laguna Niguel and Orange County.

According to the statewide non-scientific survey results, 4,026 readers responded with their take on vaccination passports or digital verifications.

Of those 58.1 percent said they were against California mandating a statewide vaccine passport. Nearly 42 percent said yes, California should mandate the passport.
Of the nay-sayers, concerns included an infringement of privacy over medical information, governmental overreach and loss of freedom.

Reader Patricia Maurine stated, "Your rights, your consequences."
Another reader, who is not enthusiastic about being vaccinated, countered by saying, "I don't judge anyone who takes it but sadly, it's not acceptable to make my choice."
Reader David Barron expressed the feeling that passports would infringe upon personal freedoms.
Maurine answered Balzer's comments with an olive branch, saying, "I may not agree with your choice, but you are allowed that choice."
Whether or not one gets vaccinated is not currently mandatory. In Orange County, over 750,000 residents have received a full dose of either Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson or Moderna vaccines. Another almost 600,000 have received at least one dose of their vaccination as of Monday.
