Director of Marketing/PR at Festival of Arts of Laguna Beach, Sharbie Higuchi, discussed the move to the Ritz.

“Though this year’s Festival of Arts and Pageant of the Masters 2020 season has been cancelled, we are grateful to be able to continue our annual partnership with our friends at The Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel to honor and celebrate the arts,” Higuchi said.

The exhibit showcases both classical and contemporary works in a variety of mediums such as painting, photography, ceramics, watercolor and printmaking.

Among the many pieces on display are Edgar Payne’s painting “Payne Lake,” Stillman Sawyer’s photograph “Sculptured Sand,” Ken Auster’s painting “Laguna,” Julita Jone’s print “Rhinoceros Unicornis,” and Tom Lamb’s photograph “The Gates-Christo, NYC.”

The Festival’s collection is made up of over 1,150 pieces and is composed of an eclectic mix of two-dimensional and three-dimensional work that date back to the early 1900s.

The Festival of Arts Permanent Collection expands annually through purchases and donations and includes paintings, sculptures, ceramics, printmaking, glass, photography, mixed media, furniture and jewelry.

All of the artwork selected for the Festival’s Permanent Art Collection reflect the uniqueness and diversity that is synonymous with the Festival of Arts and the region surrounding it.

Since 1932, the Festival of Arts has been a major influence in preserving the history of this region by supporting artists and the arts community, according to Higuchi.

“This exhibit invites the viewer to take a visual stroll through history as well as explore a variety of artistic styles," she says.

The Selections from the Festival of Arts Permanent Art Collection exhibit is located at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel at One Ritz-Carlton Drive, Dana Point, CA 92629.

Guests are encouraged to check the resort’s most current regulations and guidelines for face covering, social distancing, and additional modified service offerings until further notice.

The exhibit is free to the public and is open daily through September 16.
