Rick Moore, a Laguna Niguel high school teacher and pastor, was vacationing in Maui on Wednesday when he suddenly heard a blood-curdling scream.
The shrieks were coming from a 20-year-old German tourist, who had been snorkeling when a shark came up and bit off her right arm.
A friend of Moore's managed to help the woman out of the water and get her to a hospital. She was reported in stable condition and able to move her legs and remaining arm, despite severe blood loss.
