Memorial Day Events In Dana Point, Laguna Niguel: 2019
A three day Memorial Day weekend will pay homage to the fallen across Southern California.
DANA POINT, CA — American flags will fly at half-mast, and still more will be placed at graves of the fallen throughout Orange County.
On Memorial Day, May 27, several events will take place across the county (listed below).
The three-day Memorial Day tribute will begin Saturday at the Queen Mary, docked in Long Beach, paying homage to its service as a troopship during World War II. The tribute will include character re-enactments, demonstrations, lectures and family-friendly activities.

Over 1,100 flags will be placed at the Memory Garden Memorial Park in Brea, honoring veterans with white crosses and miniature flags, according to the Orange County Register.
In Corona Del Mar, a remembrance ceremony will be held at Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary at 11 a.m. Located at: 3500 Pacific View Drive.

In Dana Point, the VFW Post 9934 will hold a ceremony at 10 a.m. in Pines Park to recognize veterans who have served our country. A military cross Boots and Rifle ceremony, and bugle call will occur. This is located at 34941 Camino Capistrano.
In Fountain Valley, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post members from Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Westminster and Midway City will be honored at 10 a.m. at Veterans Memorial from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Visit www.fountainvalley.org for more information.
In Laguna Beach, the VFW and American Legion Post 222 will honor the fallen at 11 a.m. at Heisler Park. Find out more at lagunalegion.org ; Heisler Park is located at 375 Cliff Drive.
In Lake Forest, retired U.S. Marine Colonel and Mission Viejo Mayor Greg Raths will be a keynote speaker at an event at El Toro Memorial Park. A color guard flag ceremony, wreath and gun salute will take place. For more information, visit www.occemeterydistrict.com Find them at 25751 Trabuco Road.
In Laguna Niguel, Sea Country Senior and Community Center will hold a color guard ceremony, along with speeches from area veterans, and a memorial for veterans. Find them at 24602 Aliso Creek Road.
Mission Viejo will hold a community observance at Kershaw Garden at the Mission Viejo Civic Center. Patriotic singing, guest speakers will be followed by refreshments. Find it at 200 Civic Center.
In Newport Beach, this will be the 10th annual Field of Honor at Castaways Park. 1,776 flags will fly in a ceremony that starts at 12 p.m. Find more information at www.nhexchange.net
In San Clemente, meet at the Community Center for a patriotic remembrance ceremony that will involve keynote speaker Sgt. Mjr. Mario Fields of the United States Marine Corps. Wreaths and flowers, bagpipes and buglers, and a color guard will be on hand. Meet at Avenida Del Mar and Calle Seville for the ceremony.
Later in the day, another ceremony will be held at Marine Monument at Park Semper Fi, overlooking the San Clemente Pier. Live music, guest speakers. Find them at 106 W. Alameda Lane.
In Seal Beach, services will be held at the United States National Submarine Memorial West at the Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach. Cmdr. Corey Poorman will speak. The "Tolling the Boats" ceremony will commemorate the 52 submarines lost during World War II.
According to USA Today, most major stores and restaurants will be open for the most part, with Costco being the only major retailer closed on the holiday.
Fans of Aldi may find they have special holiday hours.
Check with your regional trash and street sweeping schedule, as all may be delayed by one day in your area, due to the holiday.
