Ocean Swimmers, Surfers: Ocean Water Warning In Doheny Beach

DANA POINT, CA — If you are looking to swim in the ocean or surf near Doheny State Beach, be advised: there is an Ocean Water Warning in place near the snack bar area, officials say.

"Bacterial levels exceed health standards at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point," officials from Orange County Health Care Agency report. "Ocean water bacteria levels exceed state health standards and may cause illness."

The Orange County Health Care Agency environment health staff reviews water levels for bacteria to indicate the "possible presence of disease-causing organisms," a spokesperson says. Warnings will be posted at the beach, depending on the "extent and cause of the contamination."
