See Baby Whale Catch A Ride From Mama Off Dana Point

There is little in this world as relaxing and heartwarming as seeing a pair of whales together in the wild.

DANA POINT, CA — This January, off the coast of Dana Point, a mother and calf gray whale swam together to the delight of whale watching crowds. This pair frolicked off Dana Point Harbor and was caught on camera by captain Frank Brennan, Dana Wharf Whale Watching told Patch.

"There were 285 School children from Mission Hills elementary school in Escondido who were out whale watching with Dana Wharf Whale watching when our drone pilot Captain Frank Brennan caught this on his drone," they said.

The baby "calf" drafted off his mother "cow" using the slipstream for a free ride, Gray Whale expert Alisa Schulman-Janiger also head of the Gray Whale Census at Point Vicente, said.
