DANA POINT, CA — A local drone photographer captured the sight of a shark swimming about 10 or 15 yards offshore of Capo Beach and Doheny this week.

Matt Larmand is one of Patch's favorite photographers. His images capture the look and feel of what lies beneath the waves off of the Orange County coastline.

This shark sighting took place Tuesday morning, about 11 a.m., he tells Patch.

"I had noticed a few shark warning signs at Capo Beach and Doheny, so I decided to send my drone up and look around," Larmand said.

It only took him a few minutes before he spotted the shark.

"It was probably around 10-15 yards from shore," Larmand said.

His drone followed the shark as it swam down the coast, then turned and headed a little further offshore. Then, it circled back towards the shore again.

It was swimming in big circles, up and down the beach, according to Larmand.

"The shark was very calm and swam slowly," he says, likely cruising around most likely looking for stingrays to eat.

Just so long as it stays there, that's fine with us.
